First proposed by the late Dr. August E. Kehr in 2001, the Azalea Research Fund was established in 2009 as a committee of the Azalea Society of America by approval of their Board of Directors.

Mission

The Fund’s mission is to foster knowledge and improvement of the standards of excellence with regard to azaleas. This is accomplished by promoting and supporting activities in the areas of classification, hybridization, culture and education; through funding of appropriate scientific and advanced studies; and related activities that are of value to the Azalea Society. read more

Donations

As a committee of the Azalea Society, the Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It seeks donations from its members, non-members, other organizations, and corporate enterprises, which have an interest in the azalea. Please see our donor instructions for making your contribution. Your generosity will help the Fund meet its goal of funding azalea research. read more

Research
The Azalea Research Fund was formed to encourage and support research related to azaleas. The Fund welcomes applicants who seek grants to help the Society in this endeavor. Please review the detailed areas of interest that the Fund will consider funding when applying for a research grant, using the application form we provide. Research grants may be awarded ranging from $500 to $5000 based on the merit to the Society. Funds are for projects ranging from 1 to 3 years, and are to be used at the discretion of the recipient except not for institutional overhead. read more
