2-2 ¾’ tall x 3-4’ wide with a dense to intermediate habit. Flowers bicolor: pale purplish-pink (lighter than 65D) with vivid purplish-red (67B) margins of varying widths, flower to flower. Blotch prominent, strong purplish-red (67A) on upper 3 lobes. Single, funnel-shaped, with 5 wavy edged, rounded, overlapping lobes, up to 4 ½” wide and 2 ½” long, 1-2 per cluster. Blooms early-mid to midseason (early to mid May in Oak Hill, VA). Calyx moderate yellow-green (138B), ½” long. Foliage moderate yellow-green (138A), semiglossy. Leaves elliptic with a rounded base and broadly acute tip, flat margins, concave side-to-side, downcurved base to tip, up to 1 7/8” long and up to 1” wide. Plant and bud hardy to 0°F (Zone 7), at least. 'Saybrook Glory' (Girard) x ‘Shinnyo-no-Tsuki’ (Satsuki). Selection number 59. Breeder code 43-1994-01. Named for Elizabeth Cosby who, with her siblings created a 15+ acre azalea garden which has been donated to the Lewis-Ginter Botanical Garden to insure that this unique place would be available to the public for generations to come.
