| Typically 3-4’ x 3-4’, but ranging from 2-8’ tall, irregularly branched. Flowers orange, orange-red, salmon, apricot and clear yellow. Single in trusses of 4-7. Blooms late, June to August, after the leaves are fully expanded. Leaves deep green or bluish-green, small. Zone 5-7. Often mistaken for R calendulaceum. Native to high elevation of the Cumberland Plateau in Kentucky south across Tennessee to the mountains of northern Georgia, Alabama, and wester North Carolina. First described in 1937. | |||||
