2 ½’ x 2 ½'. Flowers bright very strong reddish-purple (RHS 78B) with a darker blotch. Combined with the new foliage that is approximately the same size, gives the appearance of two colors of flower petals. Single with petals that are more elliptic than strap-like, giving a whorled effect to the flower; petals that do not touch; 3”. Blooms midseason; mid to late May in Derwood, MD. Leaves are 2” long by 3/4” wide; new growth larger. Hardy to -15 F. ‘Koromo Shikibu’ x an unknown R indicum hybrid (ruffled, semi-double, rose red with white variegation). Named for Buck’s wife.
