1’ tall x 1 ½’ wide with a dense habit. Buds tints of Deep Pink (52C and lighter) with a Moderate Yellow-Green base. Flowers tonal: tints of Strong Pink (52D and lighter), lightening with time. Blotch and throat Strong (145A) and Light (145B) Yellow-Green. Double with up to 25 petals, funnel-shaped, rounded, overlapping lobes with wavy edges, 2 ¾” wide x 1 ½” long, 3 per cluster. Blooms heavily early midseason (late April to early May in Oak Hill, VA). Calyx Strong Yellow-Green (143B), 1/2” long. Foliage semiglossy Strong Yellow-Green (144A) in spring, Dark Yellowish-Green (139A) in summer. Leaves elliptic with a rounded base and broadly acute tip, up to 1 ¾” long x ¾” wide. Zone 7; hardy to 0 F, at least. Cross: ‘Betty Ellen’, Stewart x ‘James Stewart’, Stewart. Selection number: RBS 103. Breeder code: #2-00-1. Named for Barbara Ella Snape, the mother of Carolyn Beck. Both grew up in the same town (Amherst, MA) as the hybridizer.
