2’ x 2 ¾’ wide (3’ x 4’ in 15 years), intermediate habit. Buds and flowers white with prominent yellow-green (145C) throat and blotch. Semidouble hose-in-hose with 10-15 wavy-edged lobes and some petaloid stamens, broad funnel shape, 3 ¾ - 4” x 2 ¼” wide, 3 per cluster. Blooms midseason (early May in Springfield, VA). Calyx absent. Leaves semiglossy, moderate to dark olive-green (146B) in spring, very dark olive-green (147A) in summer. Leaf shape: elliptic, acuminate apex, cuneate base, upcurved edges, 1 ½-2 ¼” x ¾-1” wide in spring, 1 ½-1 ¾” x ¾-?” in summer. Hardy to 0°F, at least. |
