2’ x 2 ¾’ wide (3’ x 4’ in 15 years), intermediate habit. Buds and flowers white with prominent yellow-green (145C) throat and blotch. Semidouble hose-in-hose with 10-15 wavy-edged lobes and some petaloid stamens, broad funnel shape, 3 ¾-4” x 2 ¼” wide, 3 per terminal. Blooms midseason; early May in Springfield, VA. Calyx absent. Leaves semiglossy, moderate to dark olive-green (146B in spring, very dark olive-green (147A) in summer. Leaf shape: elliptic, acuminate apex, cuneate base, upcurved edges, 1 ½-2 ¼” x ¾-1” wide in spring, 1 ½-1 ¾” x ¾-⅞” in summer. Hardy to 0°F, at least. |
